Graphite & C-C Components for Glass Manufacturing

Glass manufacturing runs at temperatures and cycle rates that few material systems can withstand. Hot forming, handling, and melting demand parts that hold dimensional tolerance at elevated temperature, release cleanly from molten glass, and resist the abrasion, thermal cycling, and oxidation that shorten the life of lesser materials.

Graphite, carbon felt, and carbon-carbon (C-C) composites solve these problems in complementary ways. Fine-grain isostatic graphite offers smooth, low-wettability contact with molten glass and machines to tight tolerances. C-C composites deliver the strength-to-weight ratio needed for high-speed handling and gob delivery. Carbon felt insulates specialty glass furnaces with minimal thermal mass, keeping energy draw predictable across long campaigns.

Max Graphite supplies container, float, technical, pharmaceutical, and specialty glass manufacturers with standard grades and custom parts machined to drawing. Our role is to match the right carbon-based material to each contact point, hot zone, or consumable, and deliver it with consistent quality.

Applications

  • Hot glass handling consumables — grippers, guides, sliders, and contact pads in isostatic graphite for IS and press-and-blow machines
  • C-C stacker bars and ejector arms — lightweight, high-strength parts for high-speed transfer from forming machine to annealing lehr
  • Gob delivery and conveyor channels — C-C trough sections that move glass gobs without swabbing or oil coatings
  • Container glass molds and inserts — graphite and C-C components for blow, press, and baffle tooling
  • Precision molds for pressed and formed glass — fine-grain isostatic graphite for display cover glass, automotive glazing, and optical pressings
  • Drawing and forming dies for tube and rod glass — graphite tooling for pharmaceutical vial, ampoule, and technical tube drawing
  • Float glass and tin bath hardware — graphite edge guides, barriers, and fender strips for controlled-atmosphere sections
  • Furnace insulation and sealing — rigid and soft carbon felt packs and graphite foil seals for quartz melters, optical fiber draw towers, and other specialty glass hot zones running in inert or reducing atmospheres

Why Max Graphite?

Max Graphite supplies isostatic graphite, carbon and graphite felt, graphite foil, and C-C composites from a single source, so glass makers can specify consumables and hot-zone parts without juggling multiple vendors. We deliver standard blocks and sheets as well as parts machined to customer drawing, from prototype runs through steady-state production. Quality is benchmarked against established industry practice for glass-contact materials and furnace insulation, and our technical team supports material selection, grade substitution, and drawing review. The result is premium performance at competitive value — high-spec carbon materials without legacy-supplier overhead.

Request a quote for standard grades, or send us your drawing for custom parts. Our technical team will review the specification and recommend the right graphite, felt, or C-C grade for your application.
