Heat Shields and Reflectors

Max Graphite supplies carbon fiber composite (CFC) heat shields — flat panels, foil-faced liners, cylindrical segments, and end panels — for vacuum heat treatment and crystal growth furnace hot zones, cut and machined to customer drawings from qualified C/C composite material stock.

The Hot Face Defines Insulation Life and Furnace Performance

In a graphite hot zone, the insulation package does the thermal work — but it's the CFC heat shield at the hot face that determines how long it lasts and how consistently the furnace performs. Unprotected felt and rigid board degrade quickly under gas quench erosion, mechanical impact, and thermal cycling. The right CFC facing extends insulation service life, reflects radiant energy back into the chamber, and keeps the hot zone geometry intact across hundreds of cycles. Max Graphite supplies CFC heat shield components machined to the dimensional requirements of new furnace builds and refurbishment projects alike.

  • Insulation Protection: Our CFC panels shield soft felt and rigid board from mechanical damage and high-velocity gas erosion during quench cycles — the primary cause of premature insulation failure.
  • Radiant Reflectivity: Foil-faced CFC panels, with graphite foil bonded to the hot face, reflect radiant energy back toward the load and reduce thermal loss through the insulation wall.
  • Dimensional Accuracy: Components are cut and machined to drawing tolerances that maintain continuous hot zone coverage and prevent thermal bypass through gaps or misaligned joints.
  • Full Format Range: Max Graphite supplies flat panels, foil-faced sheets, cylindrical liner segments, and end/door panels from a single source — covering the complete hot face geometry.
  • New Build and Refurbishment Supply: We supply both production runs for OEM furnace builders and replacement components for in-service hot zones, matched to existing designs.

Max Graphite CFC Heat Shield Solutions

Flat Panels and Plates

Standard and custom-dimension CFC panels for lining the cylindrical walls and flat surfaces of box or round hot zones, supplied plain or with graphite foil facing bonded to the hot face for enhanced reflectivity.

Foil-Faced CFC Panels

CFC sheet stock laminated with graphite foil on one or both faces — the standard inner hot face liner for most vacuum furnace configurations, combining the mechanical strength of C/C composite with the low emissivity of graphite foil.

Cylindrical Liners and Ring Segments

CFC machined into curved barrel staves or full-ring segments to line round furnace chambers, including crystal growth furnace hot zones where continuous cylindrical coverage and purity-grade material are both required.

End and Door Panels

Flat and profiled CFC components cut to cover furnace end caps and door-face assemblies, maintaining complete hot face coverage at the furnace terminations.
